There are so many key skills that are vital for your child’s development. Our toddler football class will help them to develop many of these skills. And your child will be having so much fun, they won’t know they are learning them!

There are many skills that your child should be developing as they get ready for school and growing up. Motor skills and cognitive skills are fundamental when it comes to your child’s development. Along with this, developing a level of independence with basic tasks, physical play and playing with others are all important skills for your child to have some basic grasp on before starting school

Within this article, we will discuss the key skills that we can help your child learn at our toddler football class

Motor Skills

Motor skills are fundamental for your child’s growth and development. They fuel healthy growth, promote independence and build confidence.

There are two types of motor skills – Fine and Gross

Fine motor skills are all the small movements created by the smaller muscle groups. Developing their fine motor skills is how your child can pick up a small object, draw a picture with a crayon and taste food with their mouth and lips.

Gross motor skills are skills that involve the whole body. This will start with foundational movements such as sitting up and, as they grow, develop into walking, running, jumping and riding a bike.

Our toddler football class will help your child to develop both their fine motor skills and their gross motor skills. Throughout our classes, your child will be learning balance, coordination and movement, starting with our Phase 1 classes where we will help your child develop the motor skills they need to sit up.

Cognitive Skills

Cognitive skills refer to how your child thinks, learns, explores, remembers and solves problems. They are an important part of your child’s development and from a very early age children are beginning to learn these crucial skills.

With our toddler football class, your child will begin to learn and develop many different cognitive skills. They will learn numeracy skills, communication skills, speech and pattern recognition.

Social Skills

A key skill that is part of your child’s development is learning how to socialise with others. Although social skills aren’t focussed on in the traditional academic sense, they are vital for helping your child to thrive throughout their life. Without good social skills, children will find it difficult to form friendships, adapt to being at school and maintain good behaviour.

At our toddler football class, your child will learn these vital social skills. They will learn communication skills and, as they get older and move up through the classes, they will work in groups with the other children. This will help them to learn cooperation and teamwork.
